Visit by Executive Director Nagano of KEK
On August 22, Executive Director Takeda of QST, Secretary General Kawakami of the NanoTerasu Secretariat, Mr. Masataka Kado, Leader of the Promotion and Public Relation Group, and Director Nishimori of the Research and Development Division guided Executive Director Nagano of the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) and his delegation on their visit to NanoTerasu.

On August 22, 22 scholarship recipients from NAKATANI foundation visited NanoTerasu. Dr. Yagi, Special Advisor to the President of PhoSIC, lectured and guided to them at NanoTerasu.

On August 7, Mr. Yaita, Deputy Secretary General of the NanoTerasu Secretariat, guided the researchers from the Republic of Cuba a tour of NanoTerasu.

NanoTerasu at “Children’s Tour of Kasumigaseki”
We introduced NanoTerasu as part of QST exhibit at the “(Kodomo-Kasumigaseki Kengaku-Day) Children’s Tour of Kasumigaseki (the heart of Japanese politics)” held at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) on August 6 (Wed) and 7 (Thu). On both days, we welcomed many visitors and presentated with QST’s fusion energy research and NanoTerasu incorporating hands-on activities.

NanoTerasu Tour by “Suurino-Tsubasa (Promising young talents) members”
On August 1st, members of “Suurino-Tsubasa” visited NanoTerasu and took special lecture about NanoTerasu and the accelerator by Dr. Nishimori (Director of QST NanoTerasu center).
They are talented young individuals with great potential, and we were impressed by how actively they asked to Dr. Nishimori questions during the lectures and tours.

NanoTerasu Booth at the 2025 National Festival of Science for Youth
On July 26 and 27, NanoTerasu participated in the 2025 National Festival of Science for Youth, held at the Science Museum in Tokyo and organized by the Japan Science Foundation.
At our booth, themed “Unveiling the Truth of NanoTerasu Handmade Stained Glass That Changes Color,” visitors enjoyed a hands-on activity making stained glass using the principles of polarization and birefringence. In addition, we displayed informative panels introducing NanoTerasu and distributed original NanoTerasu clear files and brochures.
The National Festival of Science for Youth is held annually, featuring over 50 booths and attracting more than 10,000 visitors, primarily elementary, junior high, and high school students.
Many families with elementary school-aged children visited the NanoTerasu booth. While the children enjoyed making stained glass, their parents showed great interest in the NanoTerasu panel displays.

NanoTerasu Science Day: “Let’s Learn at NanoTerasu – The Wonders of Light and Cutting-edge Technology” Held
On July 20, as a co-hosted event of the “Sendai-Miyagi Academic City Science Day 2025” (organized by the NPO Natural Science), we held the NanoTerasu Science Day: “Let’s Learn at NanoTerasu – The Wonders of Light and Cutting-edge Technology.”
NanoTerasu served as a sub-venue for the event, with a shuttle bus running from the main venue at Tohoku University’s Kawauchi Campus. A total of 336 visitors, including 96 elementary school students, attended the event.
At the NanoTerasu sub-venue, we offered hands-on activities for children, including making simple spectroscopes and observing the spectra of various types of light. There were also panel displays and video screenings introducing NanoTerasu.

On July 15, Mr. Masataka Kado, Group Leader of the Promotion and Public Relations Group at the NanoTerasu Secretariat, delivered a lecture titled “Overview and Future Prospects of the 3 GeV Advanced Synchrotron Radiation Facility NanoTerasu” at the 346th Regular Meeting (Lecture Session) of the Nuclear Systems Association, held at the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum in Kojimachi, Tokyo.
