Where Cutting-Edge Physics Meets Cosmetic Science (L’Oréal)
L’Oréal Announces Innovative Functional Materials Research Using the Next-Generation Synchrotron Radiation Facility NanoTerasu: Visualization of a Nanogel Network Capable of Autonomous Structural Reorganization and Self-Healing
L’Oréal Research & Innovation Center Japan (R&I Japan), the Japanese research and development hub of the L’Oréal Group located in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture and headed by Amit Jayaswal, presented research findings on polyion complex gel particles (PGPs), a functional material being explored for potential cosmetic applications, at the international conference Okinawa Colloids 2026¹.
Conducted in collaboration with Tohoku University, the study successfully visualized the intricate three-dimensional network structures formed within formulations at world-leading resolution and in a non-destructive manner, using synchrotron X-ray micro-computed tomography (μCT) at the next-generation synchrotron radiation facility NanoTerasu.
