On June 12, Mr. Takahashi, Manager of the Promotion and Public Relation Group at the NanoTerasu Secretariat, guided visitors from Nissetsu Co., Ltd. on a tour of NanoTerasu.

On June 8, a delegation from the Osaka Science & Technology Center visited NanoTerasu and toured the facility under the guidance of Dr. Masataka Kado, Leader of the Promotion and Public Relation Group of the NanoTerasu Secretariat.

A research group led by Group Leader Seiji Sakai of the Research Center for Quantum Materials and Functionalities, Takasaki Advanced Radiation Research Institute, QST, in collaboration with the University of Hyogo, the Japan Synchrotron Radiation Research Institute (JASRI), Institute of Science Tokyo, and NTT Corporation, has successfully developed, for the first time in the world, a practical material that enables rewriting of magnetic memory records (electron spin orientation) solely by laser pulse irradiation.

Results have been published from hair care research conducted by Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., focusing on the internal structure of hair. This study highlights the phenomenon of “reversion of waviness” and presents findings from analyses of hair internal structure using NanoTerasu.

From May 29 to 30, the Executive Committee for Coalition Strategy of NanoTerasu (ECCS) —comprising academic research institutions participating in the NanoTerasu coalition—held its first beamline training workshop at the Entrepreneur Hall of the Tohoku University SRIS Building and at NanoTerasu.

Dr. Masataka Kado, Group Leader of the Promotion and Public Relations Group of the NanoTerasu Secretariat, has been appointed as a Science and Technology Education Advisor to support the enhancement of STEM education by Mr. Nishijo, Director-General of the Science and Technology Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

On May 26, a kickoff meeting was held at MEXT, where Dr. Kado was presented with the certificate of appointment.

On May 20, Dr. Kado, Group Leader of the Promotion and Public Relations Group of the NanoTerasu Secretariat, and Mr. Seino, Vice President of Photon Science Innovation Center, guided visitors from the Japan Finance Corporation on a tour of NanoTerasu.

The research group led by Assistant Professor Sho Ninomiya and Professor Maiko Nishibori at the International Center for Synchrotron Radiation Innovation Smart (SRIS), Tohoku University, closely tracked the crystallization process of MWW-type zeolites using oxygen 1s X-ray emission spectroscopy (O 1s XES).

On May 19, Mr. Kazuaki Kobayashi, Director of the Natural Resources, Energy and Environment Department of the Kanto Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, visited NanoTerasu together with his delegation.

At the Visitor Hall, Mr. Kawakami, Director of the NanoTerasu Secretariat, provided an overview of NanoTerasu, followed by an explanation of the coalition use system by Dr. Watanabe, Special Advisor to the Chairman of the Photon Science Innovation Center.

Afterwards, the delegation toured the Experimental Hall under the guidance of Mr. Kawakami and Dr. Watanabe.

On May 18, Mr. Hidehito Kawasaki, Member of the House of Representatives, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Affairs, and Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Cabinet Office, together with Dr. Shinji Fujimoto, President of Suzuka National College of Technology, visited NanoTerasu with their delegation.

At the Visitor Hall, Dr. Koyasu, President of QST, provided an overview of QST’s activities, followed by an introduction to NanoTerasu by Dr. Takahashi, Director General of the NanoTerasu Center. Dr. Takata, Chairman of the Photon Science Innovation Center, then explained the coalition use system.

The delegation subsequently moved to the Experimental Hall, where they toured BL14U, one of the coalition beamlines, the exhibition of NanoTerasu electromagnets, and BL02U, one of the public beamlines.

On May 15, Mr. Yoshiaki Ishida, Director of the University Research Facilitation Division at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), visited NanoTerasu together with his delegation.

At the Visitor Hall, following opening remarks by Mr. Yaita, Deputy Director of the NanoTerasu Secretariat, Dr. Kado, Group Leader of the Promotion and Public Relations Group, provided an overview of NanoTerasu. Dr. Takata, Chairman of the Photon Science Innovation Center, then explained the coalition use system.

Afterwards, the delegation toured the NanoTerasu linear accelerator, storage ring, and Experimental Hall under the guidance of Dr. Nishimori, Director of the Department of Advanced Synchrotron Radiation Research and Development at the NanoTerasu Center, and Dr. Takata.

On April 24, Mr. Baba, Deputy Director-General of the Science, Technology and Innovation Promotion Secretariat of the Cabinet Office, and his delegation visited NanoTerasu.

At the Visitor Hall, Mr. Kawakami, Director of the NanoTerasu Secretariat, provided an overview of NanoTerasu. This was followed by an explanation of the Coalition Program by Takata, President of the Photon Science Innovation Center (PhoSIC). The delegation then toured the experimental hall.

On April 17, a delegation including Mr. Tsuyoshi Shimizu, Expert Member of the Incorporated Administrative Agency Evaluation System Committee, and Mr. Katsuhiko Sakamoto, Vice Minister for Policy Coordination of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, visited NanoTerasu.

At the Visitors Hall, following opening remarks by Mr. Kawakami, Director of the NanoTerasu Secretariat, an overview of NanoTerasu was presented by Dr. Masataka Kado, Leader of the Promotion and Public Relation Group. This was followed by an explanation of the Coalition Program by Mr. Takata, President of the Photon Science Innovation Center (PhoSIC).

Afterward, in the Experimental Hall, the delegation received explanations on the Coalition Beamline BL14U and the public beamline BL02U, among others.
